The Whittle Polar Bears die is another of the amazing Christmas releases from Poppystamps. I wanted to create a night sky that had more "movement" than plain cardstock. I started with a piece of 140lb watercolor paper that was 3.5" x 8.5", the typical measurements for a slimline card. I used Distress Spray Stain in Uncharted Mariner on some watercolor paper, spritzing and drying between layers and using a little water to thin out color in a few places.

After my background was finished (and my fingers were very blue), I used both the polar bears die and the new Proper Merry Christmas die with 110lb Neenah Classic Crest in Solar White. I only used the outline portion of the Merry Christmas. I had some aqua-colored extra-fine glitter paper I had bought last year from Michael's and hand cut an ice floe (different than an iceberg) for my bears to sit on. I lightly inked the bottom of the two bears with a Distress Ink in Cracked Pistachio.

I tried a variety of different papers to stand in for the ocean - navy with hand-drawn white caps, black glitter, white, light blue - and finally decided on Stampin' Up!'s Moonlight Mist. I cut a 1" x 8.5" piece and glued it to the bottom of my watercolor panel. I glued my glittery ice floe on top and then adhered the bears with foam adhesive. I adhered the Merry Christmas outline directly to the watercolor piece, and finished the card with Poppystamps' Pastel Jewels.

Here's to enjoying a starry night with someone you love.
