With Mother's Day fast approaching, I wanted to put Tim Holtz's Floral Outlines stamp set by Stampers Anonymous to the test. I was eager to combine this with some Lindy's Magicals I had just recently received.
I first used four 4.5 x 6" panels of Canson XL watercolor paper and sprinkled it with 1-2 colors of Lindy's Magical Powders (if you haven't tried these yet, you are *truly* missing something). I used combinations including Cape Cod Coral, Salt Water Taffy, and Clam Bake Beige all from the Nantucket Shimmer Magicals set of 5. I also used Rizzo's Rowdy Red from the Go Greased Lightnin' set of Flat Magicals (no shimmer, but plenty of magic) by itself on one card. After the powder was on the card, I spritzed it with water and let the colors do their thing mixing around on the paper. In a couple of cases, I added a bit more powder.
I sprinkled 1-2 magicals onto my watercolor paper with a dry paintbrush, then spritzed with water to make them come alive. When I had the colors the way I liked them on each of my 4 panels, I dried them with my Ranger Heat Tool. I absolutely love the line art that is the Tim Holtz Floral Outlines stamp set. After my panels were dry, I brushed on anti-static powder (happy this did not dull my watercolor) and stamped this trio of stamps onto my paper with Versamark. For the three pink backgrounds, I used Inkon3's Gold Rush Ultra Fine Embossing Powder to heat emboss with. For the red background, I used Taylored Expression's White Fine Detail Embossing Powder.

"Never underestimate the power of a die," Tim Holtz said. Indeed, this typically-Christmas die turned into just what I wanted for a winter baby shower card.
I used the Sizzix Countryside die by Tim Holtz, along with colored Stampin' Up! cardstock including Pink Pirouette, So Saffron, and Purple Posy. Background cardstock behind the image is SU's glossy white, giving the snow a shine (hard to see in photo). Pale blue is Bazzill's Icy Mint smooth cardstock. White background is Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 110lb.
Stitched rectangle is part of Paper Rose nested stitched rectangle dies. The saying is my own creation printed from a laser printer.
I'm entering this at Inkspirational Challenges #281 using the theme New/Welcome.

I've been charmed by Anita Jeram's lovely illustrations for Colorado Craft Company stamps for years, but I've put off buying them. When they had a big sale in December I could resist no longer. One of the sets I purchased was Tea Time Fun. Naturally, I also needed the die set to go with it.
I've made a recent decision to go back to colored pencils for much of my coloring. I dearly adore my alcohol markers and would love to have an entire set of Copics, but...budget. But I was able to complete my Prismacolor colored pencil collection by spending only about $20. I'm definitely rusty but I am at the start of taking a class from Kit & Clowder to brush up on my skills.
That said, my new stamps fit great with challenge #502 over at CAS Colours & Sketches.

A clean and simple feline card came together for several challenges. The challenges called for using green, making it vibrant, using a pet, using a cat, and using a curve. I love trying to hit so many requirements with one card. It's like solving a puzzle. The cat rubber stamp I've had for several years. I purchased it at The Paper Crown in Waco, Texas. It's called Meow Mix but I'm going to need to research the manufacturer. I stamped it on Gina K Pure Luxury Heavyweight white cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I colored in tiny portions with gray and pink Copic and Spectrum Noir markers. I fussy cut it. I used a circle cutter to cut a large circle from the corner of a piece of white cardstock. Underneath that I put the green and white polka dot paper from Jillibean Soup (Soup Staples in Olive Sugar). I punched three hearts from SU's Melon Mambo cardstock with a retired triple heart punch from Stampin' Up!. I adhered the cat with foam adhesive and then the hearts, and then added the sentiment strip from Paper Rose.
