I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I have never delved into the glorious world that is Altenew florals until now. I've admired and swooned over Pinterest images of their cards. I've gasped at the gorgeous makes I see on Instagram. Finally, I purchased a stamp and die set from an Altenew Buy & Sell group and it sat for awhile. I always have 50 cards in my head that I want to make, but sometimes it takes weeks or months to get to them. I found a nice color challenge online and decided now was the time to break out the Altenew Beautiful Day stamp and die set. I was not disappointed.

I stamped on watercolor paper, die cut to provide a stitched edge, and painted the flowers with Stampin' Up! Blackberry Bliss ink (per the challenge). I have also, until now, never watercolored through a stencil. I saw Kristina Werner do this and thought it was amazing! Finally, I pulled out a Tim Holtz stencil and used a water brush to paint on color from my Zig Clean Color Water Brushes. I was happy with the results. I wanted to add a splatter of the colors from the flowers but somedays I am terrible at splatter. I tried it on a spare piece of cardstock and it was a mess, didn't land where I wanted it to, and got in my eyes (I was even wearing glasses!). I pulled out two of my trusty "splatter" image stamps from SU and stamped off the color, then onto the watercolor paper. I glued all the die cuts in place and added a sentiment strip.
Frankly, I could play with this stamp and die set for days on end. And watercoloring through a stencil (using a spray adhesive to keep the stencil in place) is my new favorite technique.
