Like many, I am a huge Tim Holtz fan. I wanted to make a TH themed St. Patrick's Day card using just his products, with the four-leaf clover from the Sizzix Lucky Love Impresslit. I am not a natural at mixed media. I have to experiment, think, study Pinterest, and more, to come up with a mixed media piece I really like. I found a wonderful card by a Finnish artist named Riikka Kovasin here that I loved. Her layout and her use of some of the embellishments inspired me most.

The Whittle Polar Bears die is another of the amazing Christmas releases from Poppystamps. I wanted to create a night sky that had more "movement" than plain cardstock. I started with a piece of 140lb watercolor paper that was 3.5" x 8.5", the typical measurements for a slimline card. I used Distress Spray Stain in Uncharted Mariner on some watercolor paper, spritzing and drying between layers and using a little water to thin out color in a few places.

Basically, if Lucky Charms was a die kit, this would be it. It also includes a small set of sentiment stamps.
I love slimline cards and made this into one with three circular windows. I chose 3 pieces of blue cardstock for the sky backgrounds and punched out one 2.5" circle from each of them. Next I used almost all the dies in the kit to cut a variety of shapes. I also cut out 1 rainbow in toned-down rainbow shades of cardstock. The rainbow die simply cuts 6 rainbow shaped stripes, so there is still a need to glue the stripes down side by side to either your main card, or to another piece of small cardstock. I chose to glue them on to a scrap piece. Then I promptly cut it in half to use in two of the three windows.
I used the panel with the three circle windows to guide me in what I put where. I glued the background "scenes" directly onto the blue circles. Next, I glued the foreground pieces, onto the front of the white panel. I used glitter paper for my unicorn wings and horns. The manes I colored with a pale purple Spectrum Noir marker. Finally, I used foam adhesive to pop up the front panel onto the decorated card. My last move was to heat emboss the sentiment onto black cardstock with white embossing powder and glue it to the card front.
I want to give a special shout out to #VistaCreate. I was able to create my watermark using a font I uploaded, and get a transparent background, all without having to pay any subscription fee.

I've just spent a week hiking in the 2nd largest canyon in the US - Palo Duro Canyon in the Texas Panhandle. The deep, cool plaid paper I used here reminds me of that wilderness.
I'm on the Poppystamps Blog today with this Hugs card. I just love this Luscious Script Hugs die set. "Hugs" is such a short, but appropriate sentiment for birthdays, get well, cheer up, and sympathy. The set comes with both the word and the offset background die. I wanted to make a slimline card (3.5 x 8.5") and decided on a tailored, masculine look using plaid, gold and navy blue cardstock. I pieced them together to make long mats, hiding the seams behind the word. More on how I did this below. I decided to soften up the sentiment by using a couple of my favorite dies -- the Floral Cluster and the Orchard leaves. Finally, I added some gold liquid pearls to parts of the flowers and the background. I adhered everything together and attached the panel to a folded piece of beige cardstock as the card base.
Here's how I "stretched" my 6x6" paper. I used a single sheet from the plaid paper pad and cut it in half. I had a little notch in one piece from where the hanger hole was. I had my work cut out for me because I needed a piece that was exactly 3x8" to mat onto the gold piece. I also needed to hide a seam on a diagonal and match the plaids up. First, I took my two 3x6" pieces, overlapped them and taped them together with removable tape, making sure that the notch was going to get cut off or not show behind the die cut. Next, I figured out the angle I wanted the "hugs" at to fit across the card with little to nothing of the die cut hanging off the left and right edges. Then, I made a pencil line and made the cut. The two pieces fit together and made a piece much longer than the 8" I needed. Finally, I decided I wanted my sentiment to sit about 1/3 of the way from the top, so I cut off a little from the top and bottom of my plaid piece so the seam would land just where I wanted the sentiment to land.

I was thrilled to be chosen the winner of a recent Poppystamps (PS) Challenge with my Turquoise and Coral card. But after that, things got even more exciting. I was contacted by the Design Team leader and asked if I'd like to join their Poppystamps Design Team and make projects showing off all their great stamps and dies. You get one guess what I said.
So, to kick off my new endeavor, I wanted to design a slimline card, which typically measures 3.5” x 8.5” when folded. I couldn't wait to get my hands on the lovely PS Soaring Tree Frame and I cut it from kraft cardstock.
I used blue cardstock and cut the washi-covered piece down to just fit behind the tree. I used the same blue for the card base. Next, I die cut the adorable PS Pile of Pumpkins (I adore pumpkins!) I used a plain circle die to create the green hill, and then I swiped Versamark ink on the tops of pumpkins, the hill, and in one area of the tree. I heat embossed with white embossing powder to give it the look of snow. I went over a few more branches with a white gel pen. I probably could have used the gel pen on everything instead of embossing, but I like the look of the shiny powder on the pumpkins.

I overlapped the letters and added pop dots to the w and the s. I added several sequins and called it a day.

I'm itching to get many more because they are so darn cute and very unique. This card came about as a response to a Color Hues Color Challenge. It took quite a while to decide on the layout and all the elements.

I used my Silhouette Cameo (and the software) to create and cut the street from SU black cardstock, and then glued a piece of Daffodil Delight behind it. I used the Mama Elephant Slimline Window Dressing Dies to cut out the cardbase and the street (to get the scalloped and stitched ends to match the cardbase). I used the same set of dies to cut out the windows (I cut out the window mullions on the 2 left windows), curtains, wallpaper, and the tiny vellum butterfly.)
The two dogs from Tim Holtz's Dog Talk Stamp Set (these dogs look remarkably like my 2 dogs) was stamped on cold press watercolor paper and colored with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers (love these things). I die cut them with the matching dies.
Finally, I stamped the truck, the woman, and the sentiment from a very old SU stamp set called Loads of Love onto . I colored the truck with Copic markers (R17, R24, R29, R35) and some Dick Blick alcohol markers in light and dark gray. There is a silver on the bumpers from a Signo Silver Gel Pen. I fussy cut the truck and hand cut the speech bubble.
I assembled everything using primarily Art Glitter Glue and SU foam dots.Challenge is Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Anything Goes. #ssswchallenge.
