Oh, how I love Halloween! While I don't have little ones to take trick-or-treating any longer, the spooky crafts are still a huge source of enjoyment. I used the new Poppystamps' Neighborhood Home Pop Up Easel Set to create this creaky, wooden house where a lot of eerie things live. The house itself is made from Stampin' Up's Soft Sable brown cardstock that I embossed with Tim Holtz's Tree Rings 3D embossing folder. I swiped a little brown ink over the raised surface and then splattered with Distress Oxide Spray in Iced Spruce.
The curtains were cut from watercolor cardstock dyed with Distress Spray Stain in Seedless Preserves and glued to the back of the brown house. Next, I cut the background from Stampin' Up's Crushed Curry cardstock (to resemble light inside the house) and adhered the house with the curtains onto it. The two rooflines and all seven window frames were cut and embossed from black cardstock. I swiped a gray Distress Crayon over the big roof and rubbed it in with my fingers just to allow the texture to show through more.
I also used foam adhesive on the back of the big roof to make it stand out. I had a piece of olive green cardstock with a kraft core that I used to cut the door from and then sand the edges of it. I swiped a little Walnut Stain Distress crayon over the door and glued it in place. I also glued the window frames in place.
I cut the broom from the Whittle Witch die set and used a brown marker to color the top of it. I glued it on to make it look like it was leaning against the front door. I cut the ghosts from the new Whittle Scary Guys set in white cardstock and adhered a tiny piece of black cardstock behind for the eyes. I mounted these on the house with foam adhesive. I used a sheet of 110lb purple glitter cardstock from the Memory Box 6x6 Glitzy Glitter Pad and cut the Boo Poe Script from it and mounted it to the roof. I used black cardstock to cut a spider web from the Halloween Assemblage die set. Finally, I cut the easel portion from Stampin' Up!'s Crumb Cake cardstock, adhered the entire house onto the proper tab, and then adhered the spider web, so the easel would hold it upright when opened.
This was lots of fun to create. I hope your Halloween is happily haunted.

Simple geometric shapes like circles, squares, triangles and hexagons can be a card maker's best friend. I was thrilled to get my hands on the new Poppystamps' Deco Diamond Stencil Set. It has 3 stencils, each featuring smaller and smaller squares. There are lots of possibilities with how to use this versatile set.

Here is my second card featuring the Poppystamps Whittle Adorable Kitty Kit card this month. I knew I wanted to use the walking cat die that comes in the kit and had the idea to use it on the top third of the card following a card layout I admired. I also liked the sitting cat die and how the two would face each other if I used them together.

It's about time for me to start wrapping presents. Pretty, fun gift tags can give a lot of oomph to otherwise plain packages or simple gift bags. I'm on the Poppystamps blog today with these three tags. All three have the sweet figure from the Whittle Friendly Snowman die. I cut scarves and hat bands from red, aqua glitter, and a pool-colored cardstock to give them all a different look.
After that I branched out (pardon the pun). The snowman on the left got a dotted aqua paper as a hill. Then she got two trees from their Evergreen Trio die set. Finally, I added clear Fairy Drops (I can't get enough of these things) to appear like snow (or maybe sleet).
The red-scarved snowman got a black and red check hill to rest on. Then he got the sweet holly leaves and berries from the another die set. The last snowman got same glitter as a hill, and the evergreen boughs from the yet another die set. I colored the boughs with a white gel pen to make it look like snow. I added some gems as snowflakes when I was finished. A little string on the top and these sweet guys and girls are ready to go under the tree.
Do you make your own gift tags or packaging? It's like another gift under the tree. Happy holidays.

As much as I enjoy the traditional red, green, silver and gold of Christmas, I get a big kick out of color twists on this festive season. A pastel approach to a Christmas card makes me think of candy and frosting. Add in glitter and I think of sugar cookies.
I used three dies to create this sugary pastel Christmas card. First, I knew I wanted a shimmery pink background. I randomly watercolored a piece of watercolor paper with two pink ink colors. I added a little splattering. Then I heavily spritzed the paper with a pearlescent glimmer mist.
After it was dry, I used a snowflake background die to cut out my sugary pink piece. I mounted this on a piece of mint green patterned paper (I love mint green and pale pink together). Next, I used the Merry Christmas die to cut out the sentiment from pale pink glittered cardstock. Then I used a medium-size stitched frame die to cut the frame from white cardstock. I next cut a piece of vellum paper to just a fraction smaller than the frame and glued it to the back of the frame. I adhered my Merry Christmas to the front of this framed vellum. I then put everything together on a folded white card, adhering the vellum frame with skinny foam tape so it wouldn't show. Finally, I adhered the clear droplets to the card with clear liquid glue. I just love how these things look on everything.
Perhaps I'll mail this card to someone with a sweet tooth.

I discovered the line of Poppystamps Whittle dies at a scrapbook convention I attended in Arlington, TX in June 2021. I thought they were adorable and started with a few. I'm itching to get many more because they are so darn cute and very unique. This card came about as a response to a Color Hues Color Challenge. It took quite a while to decide on the layout and all the elements.
