A Teabag Treat Holder

December 11, 2022

Even though you haven't seen more from me in December, I've been crafting like crazy. I make lots of gifts and cards for friends and I don't always want to reveal them online before I give them. I know you understand.

Today, I'm over on the Poppystamps blog with a cute little treat holder. It's ideal for tea bags on little wrapped chocolate candies. Tea may be an overlooked gift at this time of year.

Wine is often the most popular for gift giving. But one cup of tea might be just the refreshing break a friend or relative needs this holiday season. I put together this little treat holder using a template I found on Pinterest. Simply search for "paper treat pocket," and a step-by-step guide will show you how to fold a double-sided 6 x 6" piece of paper into this. It takes no adhesive (although I put some under the front flap to keep it down) and can be folded in 1 minute.

After I folded the pocket using a sheet from the Memory Box Christmas Jolly 6x6 plaid paper pack, I wanted to add a decoration to the front. I started with the banner die that is included in the Poppystamps Gilded Christmas Wishes Stamp and Die set. First, I cut the banner from a pearly, gold vellum from the Paper Studio (Hobby Lobby) called Pure Gold Metallic, and then again from Bazzill Dark Kraft cardstock. I took the kraft banner and trimmed off about 1/8" from each long side, so the gold would show behind it when I layered and adhered them together. I glued my layered banner to the front flap that had been folded down. (Again, I glued that flap down so it couldn't flip back up.)

Next, I cut the forest trees from the Poppystamps Whittle Forest Reindeer Kit using two different shades of green cardstock, Wild Wasabi and Garden Green from Stampin' Up!. I layered those onto the banner and glued them down. Finally, I took the "You're Tree-mendous" sentiment from the enclosed stamp set that comes with this kit and stamped it in Versafine black ink on a piece of white cardstock. I punched a hole in that and then in the corner of the pocket's front flap. I tied some metallic gold twine to keep this mini tag in place. Finally, I tucked in the mint tea bag.

Hope you get some relaxing treats this holiday season. You know you deserve them.
