I'm back today with a field of poppies. Years ago I bought some Stampin' Up! patterned paper called Peaceful Poppies. I think it is gorgeous, but I was just letting it sit in a bin until "one day." At the same time, I'm looking at my Spellbinders' Essential Arches dies thinking "I just haven't used those enough." So, for Mother's Day, I married the two and made a series of cards with 4 different color schemes. (I'm trying to work through my "one day" stash when the inspiration strikes.)
All four card designs feature the patterned paper from SU, heavyweight vellum from Amazon, the Arches dies from Spellbinders, the Small Stained Glass Butterfly from Poppystamps, the sentiment from MFT's Itty Bitty Birthday stamp set, a gorgeous 3D embossing folder from Crafter's Companion called Regency Swirls (I was today year's old when I learned the name of this - traded a friend for it years ago) and the Sentiment Strips die from Photoplay. The second card was my original and it features Stampin' Up! Cardstock in Poppy Parade (shocker, huh?) and the butterfly is cut from watercolor paper painted with Tim Holtz Seedless Preserves Distress Ink. I accidentally picked up the wrong size arches for the remaining cards, but it worked out okay. Those cardstock colors are all SU: Sweet Sugarplum, Granny Apple Green, and Pool Party. Butterflies are in Poppy Parade and Rich Razzleberry (a great match to the Seedless Preserves Ink). I added some sequins and Poppystamps clear Fairy Drops (looks like water) to many of the cards.
These cards were a lot of fun to make and helped me cope with some losses we've been suffering here at home. I hope your springtime finds you facing the light of a new day.
I'm entering 3 of these cards in the Time Out Challenges #286 using the words arches, floral, and in the case of the Pool Party card - water.
These are all wonderful! I love the bright happy colors and the card design with the arch. All the layers and details look very pretty! Thank you for joining us at Time Out and do check out our new challenge that begins today, it'll be a very fun photo inspiration!
